Hi and welcome to the blood parrot page, as you probably know there is not alot of available information on these cuties, so i have decided to create a site dedicated to them. I hope you find the information helpful. First off the blood parrot cichlid is a man made fish (hybrid) it's parentage is belived to be that of the red devil cichlid and the gold severum cichlid, although nobody seems to be letting out the trade secrets.

I myself presently have 3 blood parrots, giggles and chuckles, and rosa, named to my response to seeing them I can't help but to smile at the sight of them they are so cute. About 2 years before I got giggles and chuckles I had seen a pair in a local petstore and became quite intreged by them as the were so interactive and had an almost animated quality. After seeing them I set out to find out everything I could about them, but as I soon found out there was not alot of available information on them, so I decided against getting a pair at the time not wanting to bring them home and not know how to care for them. Anyways time passed and I learned about as much about them as I could. Mostly and many thanks to "The Parrot Cichlid Page". In July of 2002 I finally brought home a pair and have never been more in awe of something,(of course other than my children) they are very endearing. It took about a week for them to settle in and come out from hiding, but after that watch out they become quite interactive wanting to look at you as much as you want to look at them, mine like to play peek-a-boo and seem to almost dance to get my attention, they always seem to think I'm late feeding them.

Well enough about that as I could go on for days.I would just like everyone to know that all information gathered here has either been from personal experience, information read at various sites and forums, and finally experiences from other parrot owners. Thank -you and Enjoy! Kelly
